Nintendo's Greatest Game Worlds in One Giant Theme Park

Nintendo Land is a fun and lively virtual theme park filled with attractions based on popular Nintendo game worlds. Each attraction features unique and innovative game-play experiences made possible by the Wii U GamePad controller. Depending on the attraction, players can play solo, compete against other players, or even team up to play cooperatively. Up to five players can participate in dynamic multiplayer modes in select attractions.* The experiences change depending on whether players are using the GamePad, a Wii Remote controller or just watching others play on the TV screen.

  • Nintendo Land features fun-filled theme park attractions based on Nintendo's greatest game worlds, including Mario Chase, The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, Pikmin Adventure and more. There are 12 attractions in all.
  • Different activities take advantage of the second screen of the new Wii U GamePad controller in different ways. For example, simply slide a finger across the touch screen to seamlessly fire ninja stars in the action-based Takamaru's Ninja Castle. In Donkey Kong's Crash Course, tilt the GamePad left and right to safely navigate an elaborate obstacle course.
  • Dynamic multiplayer that offers different experiences in the same game. Even in the same attraction, the player using the GamePad will have a completely different experience than players using the TV: In Luigi's Ghost Mansion, the player using the GamePad is able to control a ghost invisible to players using the TV. In Metroid Blast, the player with the GamePad controls an aerial gunship versus the ground-based players using the TV.
  • The attractions are easy to pick up and play, but also contains deeper levels of play that are sure to challenge even the most experienced gamers. Metroid Blast, for example, contains a deep mission mode as well as a competitive surface-air combat mode.
  • Attractions are grouped into three types: ○ Team Attractions like Metroid Blast and The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest that offer depth and challenge for 1 to 5 players. ○ Competitive Attractions like Mario Chase and Animal Crossing: Sweet Day where 2 to 5 players compete against each other. ○ Solo Attractions like Takamaru's Ninja Castle, Donkey Kong's Crash Course and Balloon Trip Breeze, that offer simple but fun and engaging play for one player.
  • Each attraction has multiple fun challenges designed to keep visitors coming back for more. Players will receive stamps upon completing special challenges.
  • Includes Miiverse functionality (broadband Internet access required).

Gameplay

The main feature of the game is the titular Nintendo Land, a theme park with attractions based on Nintendo games and franchises. From the plaza, players can walk around and choose to play one of the attractions, or view comments on Miiverse from around the world by approaching visiting Miis. Players can also choose to simply play one of the games from a menu.

Nintendo Land features a total of twelve attractions, which are divided into three categories: single player, competitive multiplayer, and cooperative multiplayer. They are as follows:

  • Takamaru's Ninja Castle – Based upon The Mysterious Murasame Castle, a solo game in which players hold the Wii U GamePad vertically, flinging ninja stars from the GamePad at enemies on the TV screen to earn a high score.
  • Luigi's Ghost Mansion – Based upon Luigi's Mansion, up to four players with Wii Remotes must find the solo player controlling a ghost using the Wii U GamePad as they travel around trying to scare each of the other players.
  • Captain Falcon's Twister Race – Based upon the F-Zero series, the player holds the Wii U GamePad vertically, tilting the controller to steer the machine and navigate the race course.
  • Animal Crossing: Sweet Day – Based on the Animal Crossing series, the Wii U GamePad player controls the guards with the two control sticks to catch the other players, using Wii Remotes, as animals trying to collect pieces of candy.
  • Balloon Trip Breeze – Based upon the Balloon Trip mode in Balloon Fight, a solo game in which players navigate an obstacle course to pop balloons, blowing into the GamePad's microphone to create gusts of wind to keep afloat in the air.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest – Based upon The Legend of Zelda, a co-op game in which players travel through Hyrule battling monsters; the Wii U GamePad player is an archer while the other players use Wii Remotes as swordsmen.
  • Yoshi's Fruit Cart – A single-player game in which the player draws a path on the Wii U GamePad to guide Yoshi through all the fruit visible only on the TV screen before reaching the goal.
  • Pikmin Adventure – The Wii U GamePad player controls Olimar commanding the Wii Remote players who are Pikmin to travel through stages and defeat enemies.
  • Octopus Dance – Based on the Game & Watch unit Octopus, players use the left and right control sticks and the Wii U GamePad's gyro sensor to copy the movements of the dance instructor.
  • Metroid Blast – A multiplayer game based on Metroid, up to four players using Wii Remotes are on the ground in Varia Suits, while one player is in the air controlling the Gunship with the Wii U GamePad, playing either competitively (the GamePad player against the Wii Remote players) or cooperatively
  • Donkey Kong's Crash Course – A single-player game based on Donkey Kong in which the player navigates their vehicle through an obstacle course using the Wii U GamePad gyroscope to reach the finish line.
  • Mario Chase – Based upon the Super Mario series, one player on the Wii U GamePad as Mario must avoid up to four other players as Toads using Wii Remotes as they chase after the one player.
