The letter tells them that Bowser and his seven Koopalings have taken over the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnapped Peach, who is being kept as a "permanent guest" at one of the seven hotels created by the Koopalings. In the end, Mario and Luigi rescue the princess after going through all the hotels.
