Gameplay
Ultimate NES Remix has players complete a challenge or a series of challenges within a certain time limit. Completing a challenge within a certain timeframe earns the player a certain number of stars. Players also have a certain number of lives, which allow them to retry a certain part of the challenge and subtracts from the overall score at the end if they lose any.
The game features 16 games of challenges taken from both of the previous NES Remix titles, including:
In addition to this, the game also retains the World Championship Mode included in NES Remix 2, allowing players to run through Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Dr. Mario to earn the highest score possible. Also available is Speed Mario Bros., a full port of Super Mario Bros. running at a higher speed, and, after earning a three-star rank on every challenge, Famicom Remix mode, which allows players to do challenges based upon the Famicom versions of the included games. Each game also has a prompt to go to the Nintendo eShop to download the full version of each game.
