The Virtual Console is a part of the Wii Shop Channel. Through the Virtual Console, Nintendo and other video game companies sell games from previous generations. Games originally released on the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo, Commodore 64, and MSX are available on the Virtual Console. Since the Wii's release, Nintendo has released fewer and fewer games.
