Ask any of the Mario Wiki / Zelda Wiki / Bulbapedia / Metroid / Wikirby staff anything here from their favorite pie flavor to why penguins will soon rule of world. Questions can also be about serious issues, so don't be afraid to ask
Neo: It is true that the hair which was cut off your head was used to make a coat?
PS: you could ask the admins too... but no one really cares about them. :P
No, it was used to make fifty coats.

Technically, there really is no set topic.

I think one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of humankind is this:
What happens if a vacuum cleaner sucks up itself from behind?
Will the vacuum simply cease to function? Or will the vacuum cleaner continue to vacuum itself, thereby getting smaller and smaller until nothing is left, and the resulting nothingness rips a hole in the fabric of time and space?
No, let's make this question more Nintendo-related.
What happens if a vacuum cleaner from the Kirby Vacuums company sucks up itself from behind?
I think a paradoxon invoked by a vacuum cleaner from Kirby Vacuums might either save our universe from, or be the cause of its iminent destruction... Maybe it's both at the same time...
Someone please solve this mystery, before I continue to talk like this x_X

Epic win.
Quotea simple man says:

A vacuum cleaner does not create a vacuum. The motor spins a turbine around so fast that the air flies out of the periphery of the rotor and more air is drawn in to the middle. The big pieces of solid matter are trapped in the bag or canister and the air and microscopic piece are thrown back out into the air.
Don't do it. The universe implodes.
Well, you can always put it in reverse. Cant you?

It seems you have been misinformed, as I am only a patroller.
Also: the purpose of this thread is to be used by NIWA members to have fun, increase traffic, and ask those dire questions you never had a chance to ask the person.

Yes, and they are also more powerful than Sysops, as they can command the vast powers of darkness, a skill they lose as soon as they get promoted to Sysophood.
Eh, I sure miss my days as a Servant of Darkness... good times. But now I have become a faithful disciple of Poochianity. That is great too!
All hail Poochy, and his eternal fight against the evil armies of Mii!

yea... i know the feeling
Question for the NIWA Admins: Metroid Wiki and Wikirby seems to have close ties with the NIWA, and yet they don't appear to be "official" members. Why is this the case?
The reason they are closely tied is because they were projects created with the intention to eventually join the alliance.
The reason they are not yet officially inducted is because they simply aren't at a big enough scale size-wise.
What denotes big enough scale then?
Right-o. WiKirby began as something we could link to. Zelda Wiki.org defaulted to linking to Wikipedia. And this deal was way too one sided. The Wikia group periodically changed any Wikipedia links going to ZW to link to their own wiki. So now, we can link users to a wiki covering the content that will link back to us. It's a nice circular path.
I'm not entirely sure what qualifications we need to meet to be a NIWA inductee/full member but meeting that would be easier as a member. However, it was my suggestion that we meet some standard to earn inclusion to be fair to later applicants. Right now I'm looking for places to advertise, get a good member base going to become a wiki that can stand alongside the NIWA members, but yes I did include niwa links and banners to WiKirby to show support and all that.
what if NIWA ran fundraisers, and then use the funds from them, purchased ad space on the wiki's?
What wikis, exactly? It would be negative progress to advertise on our own wikis XD
Although I think you mean on Wikia. However, do you really think Wikia would allow that? They'd laugh in our faces.
Eh, it doesn't matter. We can make it on our own! 8)

What makes you say that?
not just wiki's, but any niwa-wide events we hold. Similar to the Wikipedia Meetups (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC), or if we hold competitions, or whatever.
The best thing we could do with any money would be to advertise in Nintendo Power. It'd probably cost an arm and a leg tho.
hmm, come to think of it, I dare one of you to ask them their rates.

I double dare you to ask them!
also how mush does a wiki cost?
I don't remember the exact number but it was between $60 and $80 to get it started up. I'm expecting around a $40 renewal on the hosting, add $25 if it gets large enough to warrant a dedicated server. I put ads on it, but I expect it not recoup costs for a few years-best case scenario. It's no big deal tho. I have a full time job-so paying for my site isn't going to kill me or anything.

Thanks man.
I tried an "indirect" advertisement in the equivalent of Nintendo Power for LatinAmerica
not a problem. Hopefully they don't just laugh me off.
Honestly, I think it's rather premature to consider purchasing advertising. If we were going to though, some of us have industry contacts who, while maybe not able to give us any discount on the rates, could at least point us at the right people.
Hello everyone. Over at the Super Mario Wiki there was this discussion about replacing the logo. I was thinking about your opinions on the new logo.

That was all found in one very simple google search. It's roughly 16,000$ to get a simple one page, black and white, advertisment in the megazine. I don't even think bulbapedia, the biggest wiki on the network, produces that sort of money.
right, so i just pull some money out of my endowment.....
how much woud a half or quater page cost? sometimes they are different rates.
