I thought the carrots were named after the Pikmin. And I was thinking of Pikmin with the Onion, since that's where they are born from.

For an even more OK franchise, see Super Mario Bros. You play one game, you've played half of them.

The basic design of Mario:
Peach: Mario, help!
Bowser: Rawr!
Mario: I'll save you!
*some levels later*
Mario: Give back Peach!
Bowser: Rawr!
*Mario trounces Bowser, takes Peach, game ends*

At least Zelda does things a little bit more differently.
