As much as I loved Charmander,
he wasn't very good starting out.
I think because of the gym orders back then.

As soon as you train your Charmander properly to level 12 or 13, it completely wipes the floor with Brock's Pokémon, despite the type disadvantage. After that it becomes a very strong and rewarding Pokémon.

I've played all the games with all the starters and I must say Piplup gave me the most problems as a starter :/

It's a terrible starter in Emerald. It turns into a fighting type just as you get to the psychic gym.

Mudkip wasn't a horrible idea, but all three evolutions had a horrible design, which is why Mudkip is my least favorite starter. However, Chikorita is my favorite, and the hate he's getting it somewhat shocking to me. But meh.

I voted for Mudkip as well, pretty much because of the same reasons. I also have no problem with Chikorita, but well, that's the thing with opinions: They vary.

I voted Chimchar because it barely looks like a Pokemon. The evolutions aren't creative either.
