Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is the seventh main installment in Square Enix's Dragon Quest series. Originally planned to be released for the Nintendo 64DD, the game was later released on the PlayStation in 2000 in Japan and 2001 in North America (under the name "Dragon Warrior VII"), the title was later remade on Nintendo 3DS, released in Japan in 2013 and to be released internationally (under its proper name in North America) in 2016, published by Nintendo.

Story
The game begins on a small island named Estard in the middle of a vast ocean. The father of the player character comes home from a fishing trip with a map that shows there were once several continents on the planet, but they have all disappeared, leaving only the small island. The hero and his friend travel back to the past when the continents existed, and now must help to solve their problems so that the continents can exist in the present time.
