Hello, are you still active?

Greetings. I am GorMor (The Goron Moron), an admin of Zeldapedia. I would like to inquire about some things regarding NWiki, however I am told that most of the staff in NWiki are now inactive and interest in this wiki has waned considerably since. Seeing as now this wiki appears to be fixed from its earlier crashing, I was hoping to discuss some things if possible. Please respond if you can. Thank you. GorMor (talk) 00:16, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Greetings. What you were told is correct. And while I am not active, I am up for discussing with you for whatever you have in mind. Tacopill (Talk) 22:33, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Alright, well I have a couple of things that I would like to bring up. More might come later, but these are the things that immediately come to mind.
1. I'd like to suggest that the Series Navigation templates, like the ones here be revamped. Right now the way these are set up, it first displays the logo of the series with a show more button that shows the rest. That's fine for 1st and 2nd party games, I think, but I find this more troubling for 3rd party game series, especially those with only a few Nintendo-related installments in them, like Banjo-Kazooie. There's not much of a point in having the game links be hidden by default then if there is not much there.
Another issue, or at least with what I see on the Conker series template, is that it uses the logo from Conker: Live & Reloaded, which is an Xbox remake. And there's only two Nintendo Conker games. I think it would be much more better if perhaps the navigation templates could be formatted more like ours on Zeldapedia, like this one. The logo can then go to the side, like in that template, as opposed to being a preview display. I think it would also be presented much nicer as well.
2. I think this wiki could also benefit from having a notice template that informs "This page was copied off from Wikipedia, a NIWA wiki or another wiki, please edit it so that it's original" or something. I've noticed that's become a small problem here on the wiki, where some pages are copied directly off of others.
Those are the main things I have thought of for the time being. I have other things I would also be very interested in discussing later, but not right at this moment. What do you think of these suggestions? GorMor (talk) 01:36, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
1. I am in agreement on the changing the template design for 3rd parties could be simplified and have its collapsible-ity removed. I just ask that they match the others visually.
{{clear}}
{| align="center" {{html5}} width="90%" style="{{roundy|15px}} background:{{Site-Color|Neutral}}; border: 2px solid {{Site-Color|Neutral|3}};margin-right:50px;margin-left:50px;"
...
}}
As for Conker, yea... that should be something representative of the entire series, but Bad Fur Day would probably be better as it is the most-known game on a Nintendo System, maybe overall. Lylat Wiki has something similar to the Zeldapedia template, but that might be something to look at later.
2. Agreed on the Copying template. Unless you were thinking something else.
Tacopill (Talk) 02:27, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
1. Perhaps the compromise be that all Series navigation templates be updated as such then, so that it remains consistent? I think 3rd party game series could do without the logo in their nav templates, as there would be an awful lot of them.
2. Ah, I wasn't aware that template already existed. That's good to know. Thanks. -GorMor (talk) 03:04, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
1. Sure, that makes sense. They probably could use a redesigning anyway, just to keep things fresh.
2. You are welcome. Happy to help.
Tacopill (Talk) 00:09, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Hey again, so I got this series template made, and was wondering it would be acceptable enough as a "standard" for third-party series. I would actually like it, if possible, to put "Robopon series" in the header space where the tabs would normally go, to make up for the lack of logo (which I feel isn't necessary for third party series). I regrettably am not the most code-savvy when it comes to templates, so even small, seemingly simple things like this tends to go over my head. -GorMor (talk) 22:35, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
I fixed up the rounding, but otherwise, it looks good. For the header, add it. We can see how it looks, if something needs changing, removing, etc. Tacopill (Talk) 00:36, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Great, thanks. How does it look now? I wasn't sure what to write in the left side. GorMor (talk) 00:45, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Looks all good to me. The left side, will probably be decided on a case-by-case basis. That looks good for that series. Tacopill (Talk) 01:03, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Well for certain. There's some third-party games that have much more extensive series, but for a small, obscure series with only about three games, it's pretty good.
I also wanted to ask a couple more questions over possible policy on something. Regarding the mention of hacks and bootlegs, which I know is likely to be a touchy subject on a Nintendo wiki. To explain on the hacks, Robopon 1 was a pair of games where only the one version got released in North America, thereby requiring that players hack to obtain all Robopon. Is that fine to mention in passing?
On bootlegs, after I'm finished with the Robopon games, I was thinking of moving on to Keitai Denjū Telefang next. This was a real pair of games in Japan, but was bootlegged as "Pokemon Diamond and Jade". I wouldn't write the article about the bootlegs, no. But rather, is it fine that the article body mention they were once bootlegged? They are by far more well known by their status as bootlegged games. If not, that's fine of course. Thanks again. Hello

Thank you. Just want to get this place into shape.

And I am an admin on the Super Mario Wiki.

-Toa 95 (talk)

You are welcome. Also, please keep the conversations on the same page, instead of going back-and-forth between two or more of them. Tacopill (Talk) 22:14, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Sorry. Just the way I'm used to responding to messages on my talk page.
-Toa 95 (talk)
It is ok. Just confuses the heck out of me, trying to keep a conversation strait between multiple pages. Tacopill (Talk) 22:22, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

By the way, since you're an admin here, would you mind deleting this (and by extension the redirect), since it's an entirely unofficial game? Thanks in advance.

-Toa 95 (talk)

Taken Care of. Tacopill (Talk) 11:16, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Template

If you could help me out with suggestions for this this, namely a solid way to implement a tab for noteworthy people, that would be much appreciated.

Also, don't forget about our discussion on my own talk page.

-Toa 95 (talk)

Ok, I added a people area, and included my suggestions of a way to start grouping them. Not set in stone, just an idea I had rambling in my head.
Also, thank you for the reminder, I did forget. Tacopill (Talk) 22:32, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Textlight

If you're still around, I would appreciate if you would fix the textlight function for this so that the text in the white areas isn't invisible.

I would try and do it myself but I don't have the user rights to edit some of these templates.

-Toa 95 (talk)

Yea, sorry. Been busy with real life and my own projects. I promoted you so you can experiment with the template and get other things done. Thank you for helping so much on this wiki. Tacopill (Talk) 00:53, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, this'll definitely help me get things done.
-Toa 95 (talk)

Okay, another problem: I've got most necessary links to Inkipedia that I can think of sorted out (pretty much sidebar and exitstub), but I still can't quite get it to work with the game infobox. You mind lending a hand with that?

EDIT: Never mind, figured it out.

this user account

I forgot my username on my original account, so I created a new account, is that a acceptable type of sockpuppet? Tabuufan9 (talk) 20:09, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

What was your original username? can you look at it, now that you logged in? Tacopill (Talk) 00:57, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

It started with Tabuu that's all I know..... Tabuufan9 (talk) 21:28, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Alright, if you can find it on here, I can get you fixed up. Tacopill (Talk) 01:34, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Thumbnails

I have to ask: is there anything you can do to fix the image thumbnail problem? Because it's been annoying me for the longest time, I don't know how to fix it myself, and it's been actively keeping me from uploading images.

-Toa 95 (talk)

That is something I don't have the power to fix. I sent a link to this conversation to people who might. Tacopill (Talk) 23:42, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
Alright then, I hope someone can help out soon. Thanks anyway.
-Toa 95 (talk)

I was actually just going to ask you about thumbnails! I wasn't aware it was a wiki-wide error. I'd attempted to publish an image for the Pocket Card Jockey game page - since thumbs don't work, could said image please be deleted? Cipher talk 13:04, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Sure. Which Image? Tacopill (Talk) 13:03, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, it's File:Pocket Card Jockey logo.jpg. Published it to use for the infobox, but obviously that uses thumbs. Cipher talk 17:30, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
All done. :) Tacopill (Talk) 22:20, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Article structure

Hey, I'd like to ask your opinion on something.

With the way I've generally been structuring articles, is there anything you think should be changed, added, or removed?

EDIT: There's also something else I just thought of to ask, that's somewhat related to this: do you think it would be fine to create a set of templates similar to GameList or ReleaseList for console bundles, or do you think that would be overstepping coverage boundaries?

-Toa 95 (talk)

Sorry, notification of this got buried under a lot of other things in my email box. But it looks like you did well with what you were searching for. Tacopill (Talk) 01:46, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that, or how that relates to what I asked...
-Toa 95 (talk)
I meant, the email of my page being changed was buried under other emails.
As for the original question, I am sorry. I can't think of anything at the time. This was the last we were working on it, if it helps. Tacopill (Talk) 02:24, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I got that part, I just didn't know how the rest related to what I asked. But if you really have no suggestions, then that's that.
-Toa 95 (talk)
I do apologize for the confusion. Tacopill (Talk) 00:07, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
Don't worry about it.

Cross-Wiki Weekend

The page looks fine for the most part, but how exactly do the disambiguation pages need to be updated?

New account

Hello Tacopill.

I would like an new account named Bowser201. Thanks!

Hello! I'll need an email address to send account creation info to. Tacopill (Talk) 01:20, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

All done! You should get an email from the wiki shortly. Tacopill (Talk) 01:25, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Reply

I'm not sure, I don't think I did delete them but can't really remember sorry. (Sorry if I did anything wrong) From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 15:43, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Ok, first: please, please, please don't split conversations before multiple pages. It makes it difficult to track conversations, requiring people to jump back and forth between pages. Tacopill (Talk) 01:23, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Account creation

Hi, I want to make an account on this Wiki, but I'd rather not share my e-mail in public. Is there a way I can send you my e-mail privately? 172.68.132.190 11:00, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Sure. DM me on Discord at tacopill#1781 or email me at bud0011[at]gmail[dot]com. Tacopill (Talk) 22:02, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Rename

Hello, I would like to have my name reformatted as The Jacketed Terrapin. Thank you. The Jacketed Terrapin 08:28, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

All done. Tacopill (Talk) 00:17, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Ambassador

May I be assigned the ambassador rank? I'm a staff member for Nookipedia, and all of my NIWA accounts are listed here. It would be helpful to have the rank, since I plan to help edit Nintendo Switch Online while PanchamBro is on break for the next couple of weeks. HylianAngel (talk) 03:04, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Sure. I'll get to that. Tacopill (Talk) 11:54, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you! HylianAngel (talk) 03:26, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
