Action Adventure was a cancelled 3D action-adventure title in development for the Nintendo GameCube, and one of the first projects to be worked on by Retro Studios.[1] While the game's story never got past concept phases, the game would have featured three female characters as the lead protagonists.[1]

Weeks before SpaceWorld 2000, Nintendo gave Retro Studios the license to develop a Metroid title for the Nintendo GameCube, leading to the decision to completely scrap Action Adventure in favor of having the team work on the new Metroid game.[1]
