The Australian Classification Board (or ACB) is a section of the Australian Government's Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications. Formed in 1970, the ACB is dedicated to classifying all films and video games released in Australia, based on the type and amount of mature content within the product.

In 2005, the ACB made all video game ratings follow the same system as films, albeit without the R18+ rating until January 1, 2013. Despite the existence of an R18+ rating, the ACB still has the right to refuse classification - and therefore prohibit a game or film from being sold in or imported into Australia.
