Devil's Third is a Wii U exclusive third-person hack and slash game, released in 2015 and developed by Valhalla Game Studios, headed by Tomonobu Itagaki. Originally announced by THQ for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the rights to the game were returned to Valhalla after THQ was closed down in 2013, and Nintendo obtained publishing rights. In Japan, the retail version of Devil's Third was released exclusively through Amazon.[2]

The multiplayer component of the game was later released for PC, titled Devil's Third Online.

Story

Satellite debris surrounding the earth has been colliding active satellites, leading to a large number of satellites being destroyed from a chain reaction of collisions, and war has erupted across the globe in the chaos.

Gameplay

Devil's Third is mostly a third-person action game in which players control a character named Ivan, who can attack using melee-based weapons, or a gun for ranged attacks. When aiming the gun, the camera switches to first person for aiming, while melee attacks can be chained and end with a cinematic finishing move. Players can swap weapons, throw them, or have their weapon stolen in the middle of a combo.

The game also features online multiplayer, with several modes. However, Nintendo announced that all online functions will be shut down on December 29, 2016, while purchases of Golden Eggs will no longer be possible after June 27.[3]
