Excitebike is a Nintendo Entertainment System game, and is the debut game in the Excitebike series.

It was originally released as part of the programmable series.

Gameplay

In Excitebike, players control a motorcyclist and race for the best ranking against other opponents. The player can choose to speed up (Turbo mode), however, using it too much can cause the bike to overheat. The courses feature slopes in which players can control the direction of the bike before it lands. If at a bad angle, the bike will crash; wasting valuable time. If the player ends up with a rank too low, they will be disqualified.

Players are also able to design their own courses. In the Japanese version, these could be saved to the Famicom Data Recorder.
