Castlevania is the debut game in Konami's Castlevania series.
Known as Classic NES Series: Castlevania, Nintendo would publish a port of the game, for Game Boy Advance.
Summary
The player controls Simon Belmont, who enters Castlevania; ruled over by Count Dracula. Simon must work his way through three stages (although the total is more like 18 stages as the three stages are in six blocks each) and can attack enemies using his whip. The gameplay is like an action platformer, and with Metroid has lead to a sub-genre in gaming, called a "Metroidvania".
