HuC-3 is an officially licensed Game Boy mapper chip and memory bank controller by Nintendo partner Hudson. It succeeds the (HuC-1 (HuC-2 is unknown, assuming it ever existed).

Like the HuC-1, it includes infrared functionality (via Hudson's GB Kiss) in games before the official release of the Game Boy Color (which has an infrared port already included in the console).

Added to the HuC-3 was some external RAM and Real-Time Clock functionality.[1]

Nintendo-published games which use it

  • None (only third party; Robopon and Pocket Family GB are known examples)
