The PlayChoice-10 is an arcade system based on Nintendo Entertainment System hardware, and is a successor to the Nintendo VS. System. Its name comes from the amount of games it can hold; players can play up to ten games on a single unit. Gameplay sessions have set time limits, though inserting additional coins before actually playing can give players additional time. Two-screen PlayChoice-10s put game instructions and the menu on the top screen and gameplay itself on the bottom screen. The games themselves came in the form of PCBs with ROM chips and used edge connectors to connect to PC10 units. Unlike VS. System games, Nintendo itself handled distribution of all PlayChoice-10 games. In the system's later years, Nintendo of America sold it as a conversion kit for their previous arcade releases. Support for the PlayChoice-10 continued even after Nintendo released the Nintendo Super System, though on July 31, 1992, Nintendo announced they would be ending support for this and all their arcade hardware.[1]
