Plug into a new adventure with Chibi-Robo

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash comes to the Nintendo 3DS system with a fresh, new take on the franchise. In this side-scrolling game, Chibi-Robo uses his plug and cord to whip enemies, grapple onto ledges, and swing across chasms. Power-up the plug and cord to search for collectables and explore previously out of reach areas.

Features:

  • Climb, jump, run and throw your plug and cord in this all-new platforming game.
  • Whip enemies and ricochet your plug and cord off of walls to solve puzzles.
  • Tons of collectibles.
  • Tap the new Chibi-Robo amiibo figure to power up Chibi-Robo into "Super Chibi Robo" or use a Toy Capsule Machine to unlock the in-game Collectible Figures.

Story

On a space station in Earth's orbit, Chibi-Robo is hard at work when his partner Telly tells him to take a break and watch some television. Telly tunes in to a newscast, which states that all of Earth's natural resources are being stolen by a group of aliens, some of which fly past the station and down to Earth. Chibi-Robo and Telly give chase in the Chibi House, and now Chibi-Robo must stop the thieving aliens and recover the planet's resources.

Gameplay

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash is a 2.5D action-platforming game in which players play as Chibi-Robo, who is able to throw his plug as the main gameplay mechanic to destroy enemies and obstacles and collect items. Players can either press X to throw the plug quickly with the "Wip Lash", or hold Y to charge up the plug and aim it with the "Zip Lash", able to destroy larger obstacles and activate various mechanisms on a stage. By smashing blocks, the player can collect blue or red orbs, which increase the distance of the Whip Lash and Zip Lash for that stage. Like in past games Chibi-Robo still runs on a limited battery power, and can recharge at various sockets throughout the stage.[3] Certain sockets will give Chibi-Robo certain powers.[4] Each stage features several collectibles, such as large coins, foods, trash, and Chibi-Tots.

At the end of the stage, players must use their plug to strike one of three UFOs (bronze, silver, and gold, in respective difficulty to hit). The better the UFO, the more spins the player will obtain for the Destination Wheel, which determines which stage the player goes to next. Depending on the number spun (one through six; the player can buy panels to add to the wheel with coins), the player will advance that many stages forward. Between stages, the player can use the Chibi House to turn collected trash into watts, use the Chibi-PC to view collectibles and purchase items to use in stages, talk to Telly or press the amiibo icon button to use amiibo, and, if they have any figures, use the elevator to view any collected figurines. Alternatively, the player can exit through the door to go to the next stage.

By using the Chibi-Robo amiibo at any point in a stage, Chibi-Robo will become "Super Chibi-Robo", giving him twice the battery power and allowing him to run faster. At the end of every stage, the player can scan the Chibi-Robo amiibo to save their score to it, giving it experience and allowing it to level up[3] and allowing the player to obtain rarer Chibi-Capsules. By using the amiibo in the Chibi House, the player can access the Chibi-Capsule machine, which gives the player a figurine of Chibi Robo in various poses or of various characters and enemies. By scanning any other amiibo, at this point, the player can earn coins, though certain amiibo will unlock special Chibi-Capsules of Chibi-Robo in that amiibo's pose. By accessing the amiibo from the title screen, the player can receive a fortune.
