Zangeki no Reginleiv is a third-person action game developed by Sandlot and published by Nintendo for the Wii. The game was released exclusively in Japan in February 2010.

Story
The game is largely based on Norse mythology, namely the story of Ragnarök. The game stars siblings Frey and Freya who serve the gods of Asgard as they battle against an army of giants on Midgard.
Gameplay
Zangeki no Reginleiv features two playable characters: Frey and Freya. The game's story uses a mission-based structure in which players can choose between playing as either character, both of whom are able to use different types of weapons.
Development
The game was originally announced by Nintendo in October 2008, under the title Dynamic Zan and slated for release in 2009.[1][2] In November 2009, Nintendo once again showed the game under the new title Zangeki no Reginleiv, with a new release date in February 2010.[3]
Zangeki no Reginleiv was approved by Nintendo in fall 2006, before the release of the Wii.[4] During development, the team was divided about the level of violence that would be depicted in the game; eventually, the team agreed to adding the ability to chop off limbs, as it was against mythological creatures rather than people.[4]
Zangeki no Reginleiv was the first Nintendo-published game in Japan to be given a CERO D rating.[5] In order to more clearly denote the game's "mature" status and prevent parents from buying the game blindly, the game was released in a black case[4], a practice which has since been continued for most games on Nintendo platforms rated CERO C or higher.
Reception
In Famitsu, the game was given the total score of 28 out of 40 (8/7/7/6).[6] Kaza MacDonald of Eurogamer rated the game a 5 out of 10, praising the game's weapon and combat systems, but criticizing most other aspects, including the visuals, some aspects of the control, and repetitive nature of the gameplay, stating that "It's impossible to recommend actually spending money on it unless you're very rich and have a very strong affection for terrible videogames. If that's you, you'll definitely enjoy yourself."[7]
On its first week, Zangeki no Reginleiv was the ninth best-selling game at 21,956 copies.[8].
