Mario is the Nintendo mascot that was first created in 1980 in the classic Donkey Kong game. He was born when Shigeru Miyamoto was attempting to make a new protagonist to star in the aforementioned title as a replacement for the game Popeye (which Nintendo lost the copyrights to). Since his debut, Mario has starred in many of his own adventures; especially upon arriving into the Mushroom Kingdom where his own stream of games came into place starting with Super Mario Bros. in 1985.
After starring in Super Mario Bros., he has re-appeared in many other Mario series games. In these games, he can get help from Luigi, or ride his dinosaur friend, Yoshi. Usually, Bowser is the final boss, but in some games, he can team up with Mario to defeat a more important boss than himself.
