Pikmin 3 is a real-time strategy video game released for the Wii U in 2013. It is the sequel to the 2004 game Pikmin 2.

Like all Pikmin games of previous, the basis of Pikmin 3 is to guide Pikmin of numerous different colors around an area, have them team up to swarm enemies and defeat them, and carry treasure back to a spaceship where they can be exchanged for the game's currency, Pokos. Unlike previous games, Pikmin 3 lets the player command up to three captains, who can lead Pikmin, rather than Captain Olimar alone, or Olimar and Louie together.
Additionally, some Pikmin are immune to certain hazards. Red Pikmin, in addition to being above average in attacking strength, are immune to fire. Yellow Pikmin, in addition to being the lightest, and therefore the easiest to throw, are immune to electricity. Blue Pikmin are able to survive in water.
