Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is the seventh main installment in Square Enix's Dragon Quest series. Originally released for the PlayStation (under the name "Dragon Warrior VII" in North America), the game was later remade for Nintendo 3DS under its current name, released in Japan in 2013. The Nintendo 3DS version was later released internationally in 2016, published by Nintendo.

Story
The game begins on a small island named Estard in the middle of a vast ocean. The father of the player character comes home from a fishing trip with a map that indicates there were once several continents on the planet, but that they have all disappeared, leaving only the small island. The hero and his friend travel back to the past when the continents existed, and must help to solve their problems and stop the evil threatening them so that the continents can exist in the present time.
