On request of Tetsuya Mizuguchi to create a "falling-block puzzle game", Masahiro Sakurai freelanced the game's design, which is also a high risk and reward puzzle game. Game concepts are explained in this video of the official Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games YouTube channel.

Gameplay

The aim of the game is to match blocks of the same color as they fall down to stop an evil planet called Meteo, and send the matched blocks back into the sky to form planets.[1]
