A Nintendo Direct is scheduled to be aired on September 13/14, 2017 worldwide, set to start at 3PM PT.[1][2][3] The Direct will be around 45 minutes long, and will focus on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles releasing in the coming months, which includes Super Mario Odyssey.

North America

Nintendo 3DS

  • Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - An overview of the game that shows some of its new features, including new areas, the forms of the Pokémon Necrozma, and the reveal of two new Ultra Beasts. Purchasing the game before January 10 allows players to receive a special Rockruff that will evolve into Lycanroc's Dusk Form, which can also perform a special move that it normally cannot obtain. Purchasing the digital version before January 10 allows players to obtain 12 Quick Balls. By purchasing Pokémon Gold Version or Pokémon Silver Version on the Nintendo eShop, players can obtain a Celebi in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon; pre-purchasing for Gold and Silver Versions starts after the Direct. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon release on November 17. Finally, a special Poké Ball Edition New Nintendo 2DS XL will be released on November 3.
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions - An overview of the game, including the main story mode, the new Bowser's Minions mode, and the various amiibo features. The game releases on October 6. The Koopa Troop and Goomba amiibo also release on October 6.
  • Kirby: Battle Royale - Reveals the game and shows an overview of the competitive multiplayer gameplay. The game will be released on January 19, 2018. In addition, to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Kirby, Nintendo will be holding a poll in which fans can vote on their favorite Copy Ability in the series, which will be featured on a Nintendo 3DS theme and custom wallpaper, and may appear in Kirby: Battle Royale.
  • Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters - Players who own either Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits or Fleshy Souls can download the "Oni Evolution" update on the following day that adds new features to the games and allows players to transfer their content to Psychic Specters
  • Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy - An overview of the game, including the puzzle-solving elements and an outfit exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version. The game will be released on October 6.
  • Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition - Reveals that Minecraft will be released on the New Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The game features both Survival and Create modes and five texture packs. The digital version releases following the Direct, while the packaged version will launch later.
  • Mario Party: The Top 100 - Announces a new game in the Mario Party series that compiles 100 minigames from across the 10 numbered entries in the series into a single game. The game supports Download Play, so that others can play with a single copy. The game releases on November 10.
  • Metroid: Samus Returns - A brief overview of the game before its launch on September 15.
  • Atlus - Showcases several of Atlus' RPG titles heading to the west. The Alliance Alive will be released in early 2018. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux will also be released in early 2018. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology will be released in early 2018 with a limited launch edition release. Finally, a demo for Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth will be released on the Nintendo eShop following the Direct.
  • Two Big Games - Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney will be released for Nintendo 3DS in November 2017. In addition, Fire Emblem Warriors will be released exclusively for New Nintendo 3DS systems on October 20.
  • New Nintendo 2DS XL - Announces the White + Orange New Nintendo 2DS XL system, which will be released on October 6.

Nintendo Switch

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - An overview of the game, showcasing some of the game's characters, the game's Titans and environments, the factions that inhabit it, and an overview of the story. An extensive look at gameplay is also shown. The game will be released on December 1, 2017. A Special Edition version will also be released, as well as a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
  • Splatoon 2 - Details future updates coming to the game. The Kelp Dome stage from the original Splatoon will be released on September 15. Also shown were a brand new stage, Snapper Canal, and a new weapon, the Tenta Brella, which will be released later.
  • Fire Emblem Warriors - A new playable character was revealed: Lyn from Fire Emblem for Game Boy Advance. The game will be released on October 20, with a Special Edition. Finally, the Chrom and Tiki amiibo will also be released on October 20.
  • Snipperclips Plus - Cut it out, together! - An expanded version of the game was revealed that includes new stages and gameplay features. The game will be released on November 10 at retail, and can also be purchased as add-on content for the original release.
  • Morphies Law - A showcase of the game, which will be released on Nintendo Switch in winter 2017.
  • Rocket League - A showcase of the game, which includes the exclusive Nintendo content. The game will be released during the holiday season.
  • Arena of Valor - An overview of the game. A beta test version will be released for free on the Nintendo eShop in the winter.
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Shows an overview of the game, including the exclusive Switch features and Nintendo content. The game will be released on November 17.
  • Two Iconic Shooters - Reveals that Bethesda Softworks' Doom will be released on Nintendo Switch during the holiday season. In addition, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be released in 2018.
  • Flip Wars - Announces that a new update that includes new stages, gameplay features, wireless local multiplayer, Class Matches, and a new online mode.
  • Arcade Archives - Reveals that Nintendo's arcade titles will start to be released as part of the Arcade Archives series. The first title will be Mario Bros. on September 27, and will also include titles such as VS. Super Mario Bros., VS. Balloon Fight, VS. Ice Climber, VS. Pinball, VS. Clu Clu Land, and Punch-Out!!.
  • amiibo - Announces that the four amiibo based on the Champions from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released on November 10. They can be used in the game to unlock exclusive armor.
  • Coming Soon - NBA 2K18 will be released for Nintendo Switch on October 17. WWE 2K18 will be coming to Nintendo Switch, with a release date to be announced. FIFA 18 will be released September 29. Finally, Pokkén Tournament DX will be released on September 22, with a demo already available on the eShop.
  • project Octopath Traveler - Shows an overview of the gameplay, which features some of the characters and their exclusive abilities, and the battle system. The game will be released in 2018, while a free demo will be released on the Nintendo eShop after the Direct. A feedback survey for the demo will also be released soon.
  • ARMS - Goes over the new features to be included in the version 3 update, such as allowing players to freely remap buttons and the addition of a new character, Lola Pop. The update will be released following the Direct.
  • Dragon Quest Builders - An announcement that Dragon Quest Builders will be released for Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo version adds the Great Sabercub to the free building mode, which allows players to move faster and grants special abilities by defeating enemies. The game will be released in spring 2018.
  • Kirby Star Allies - Showcases the game, including the ability to recruit enemies and the four-player co-op gameplay. The game will be released in spring 2018.
  • Nintendo eShop - Shows several indie titles releasing on the Nintendo eShop, including SteamWorld Dig 2 (September 21), Golf Story (September), Nine Parchments (Holiday 2017), Battle Chef Brigade (Holiday 2017), Tiny Metal, and Super Meat Boy Forever (2018).
  • More Coming - Shows a number of other games coming to Nintendo Switch, including Lost Sphear (January 23, 2018), Sonic Forces (November 7), Resident Evil: Revelations and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (November 28), and L.A. Noire (November 14).
  • Super Mario Odyssey - An extensive look at the game, including new environments, a look at Mario's abilities, an overview of the story, and various other gameplay features. The game will be released on October 27. In addition, a Nintendo Switch bundle that includes a set of Red Joy-Con and a themed carrying case will be released on the same day.
