This article is a short summary of Pokémon (Trading Card Game). Bulbapedia features a more in-depth article. |
The Pokémon Trading Card Game (Japanese: ケモンカードゲーム) (not to be confused with Pokémon Trading Card Game (game) and related video games) is one of, if not the most successful of Nintendo (and The Pokémon Company (Game Freak, Nintendo, Creatures, Inc.)'s trading card series. It is a long-standing game with many sub-series, and began in Japan in 1996 published by Media Factory. In 1999, a North American version (later worldwide version) was introduced by Wizards of the Coast.
Video game adaptions of the game such as a Game Boy Color version and the Japan-only Pokémon Card GB 2: GR-Dan Sanjou! also exist, with Pokémon Trading Card Game Online being a more modern example in recent years. Some of the Pokémon cards have included e-Reader support, such as explanations of the cards and minigames for scanning certain cards together.
