Mario, Kirby and The Legend of Zelda AR Cards and their appearances in augmented reality

AR Cards are special cards that can be scanned in compatible Nintendo 3DS games to reveal something in augmented reality, usually represented by a character on the card. In terms of interactive Nintendo cards/items, it can be considered as a successor to e-Reader cards, and as a predecessor to amiibo. Physical versions of AR Cards are not needed; as a scan of the card can also be used to unlock the content.
