I know some of these (Mario, Pokémon) are listed as published by Nintendo but currently can't find solid proof (such as a Nintendo website advertising it, game manual attribution in credits, or things that definitively deduce they were published by them). Some have copyright notices of Nintendo however (an example being Undake30 Same Game Daisakusen Mario Version however unsure about this one. Should some of our articles be merged? (per NintendoWiki:Coverage) I notice Ball has the DSiWare version and other variations in one article, but some articles have the other versions e.g. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX covered in their own articles (though I'm the one who started some of those articles). I'm sorry if this wasn't allowed and will merge them if so. Also we maybe need to clarify more on what is a port and what is a remake, because some games may only be graphically different, while some (e.g. Pokémon Yellow Version and Pokémon Crystal Version add new features). Thanks. <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 17:01, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

I was thinking maybe like Bulbapedia we could have NintendoWiki project templates and portals, like "Project Games", "Project Toys", "Project Staff". Should we allow for articles about peripherals not produced by Nintendo? I was going to make an article on the Game Boy Full Changer and my friend Vipz wants to make an article on the Work Boy and Page Boy. Power Glove was a red link so I created it, but then I realised Mattel (United States) and Pax (Japan) were the manufacturers. I don't want to create anymore unless there is a consensus. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 14:56, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

:If it's worth anything, I'm heavily opposed to strictness on this wiki that is detrimental to its development. The Nintendo Wiki on Fandom is lax with its coverage policies and is flourishing. It's absurd to even think an influential accessory like the Power Glove would not have a place on a Nintendo wiki. -Vipz (talk) 01:33, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

::Yeah, I think so too and support removing the limited coverage. I believe the original reason was so say an article on Goomba doesn't clash with Super Mario Wiki, and that this wiki could specifically be focused on the company; but on hindsight it feels too strict and I think even articles like Goomba are OK as long as they don't plagiarise word for word. <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 14:08, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Cameos
 +
Like Nintendo database I'm thinking it might be nice to have a cameo section for games? Example: The cameo for Pokémon Red and Blue Versions where text mentions a game with Mario with a bucket on his head (Mario & Wario). We could also add new categories such as "cameos to the Mario series", "cameos to the Animal Crossing series".

Also I'm less sure about this next suggestion but maybe a legacy section (counterpart to development) for the special case if a game references another game in the same series but those elements don't appear in that game, then that may be mentioned too (example: when Blue from Pokémon hints in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee back in his day the Pokédex wasn't so complex). The reason I'm not sure about that one is because elements from that game could interact with a newer entry later, or people might not view it as notable as a cameo to/from another series. <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 23:11, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

:In the one article I've expanded - Part Time UFO - I've covered cameos in its "Trivia" section. First note: that example you've given is a reference and not a cameo (check what's the difference between these two on the 'net), and it's not particularly interesting or notable IMO. Second note: we usually say cameos in and references to/from. The second suggestion actually sounds more plausible than the first, I definitely support Legacy sections, nearly all wikis have them when there's some kind of "legacy" to write about. -Vipz (talk) 05:28, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

What classes as third party game here in terms of those with Nintendo IP?

I know some of these (Mario, Pokémon third party) are on other sites listed as published by Nintendo but currently can't find solid proof (such as a Nintendo website advertising it, game manual attribution in credits, or things that definitively deduce they were published by them). Some have copyright notices of Nintendo however (an example being Undake30 Same Game Daisakusen Mario Version however unsure about this one. Should these get pages too? Torchickens (talk) 19:27, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Candence of Hyrule I think is a good recent example. A third-party game, where Nintendo licensed their characters to be used, but Nintendo otherwise had no real involvement (I think?). If they have Nintendo content and are officially acknowledged by Nintendo, then the game should get a page and only cover the Nintendo content, imo. Alex95 (talk) 16:48, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply! Yeah I agree with that too (or at least maybe one big games with Nintendo content article). Torchickens (talk) 10:27, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Regarding three official English names for Japan-only titles

 • Kirby no KiraKira Kizzu - On this list it was referred to as "Kirby's Super Star Stacker"
 • Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru - On a Smash 4 picture of the day, it was called "The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls"
 • Nazo no Murasame Jou - Officially available on Nintendo 3DS eShop as "The Mysterious Murasame Castle"

Which of these should be moved? I'm tempted to move all of them. Torchickens (talk) 21:56, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response. Those all sound reasonable, if you haven't done so already. Tacopill (Talk) 00:50, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

On ports

Should some of our articles be merged? (per NintendoWiki:Coverage) I notice Ball has the DSiWare version and other variations in one article, but some articles have the other versions e.g. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX covered in their own articles (though I'm the one who started some of those articles). I'm sorry if this wasn't allowed and will merge them if so. Projects idea

I was thinking maybe like Bulbapedia we could have NintendoWiki project templates and portals, like "Project Games", "Project Toys", "Project Staff". What do we think? From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 19:58, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Peripherals

Should we allow for articles about peripherals not produced by Nintendo? I was going to make an article on the Game Boy Full Changer and my friend Vipz (Talk) wants to make an article on the Work Boy and Page Boy. Power Glove was a red link so I created it, but then I realised Mattel (United States) and Pax (Japan) were the manufacturers. I don't want to create anymore unless there is a consensus. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 14:56, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

If it's worth anything, I'm heavily opposed to strictness on this wiki that is detrimental to its development. The Nintendo Wiki on Fandom is lax with its coverage policies and is flourishing. It's absurd to even think an influential accessory like the Power Glove would not have a place on a Nintendo wiki. -Vipz (talk) 01:33, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, I think so too and support removing the limited coverage. I believe the original reason was so say an article on Goomba doesn't clash with Super Mario Wiki, and that this wiki could specifically be focused on the company; but on hindsight it feels too strict and I think even articles like Goomba are OK as long as they don't plagiarise word for word. Cameos

From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 23:11, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

In the one article I've expanded - Part Time UFO - I've covered cameos in its "Trivia" section.
Though it's not a coincidence as Pokémon Red and Blue and Mario & Wario were both developed by Game Freak and the definitions of cameo are broader nowadays (similar to "retro", "beta", "glitch"). Sorry, I never liked the word notable. Thanks for the input. From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 13:34, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
It's true though that's like a description ('this is the game he's playing'/which happens to be one of Game Freak's other games), while say in カメさんぽ in Part Time UFO from what the article says it seems like the characters explicitly appear, similar to Qbby x Kirby.
