The Famicom Detective Club series, otherwise known by the series name romanised from Japanese (Famicom Tantei Club series), is a franchise of text-adventure detective/murder/mystery games produced by Nintendo, which TOSE currently owns a share of the copyright to.
Text-adventure is an early genre of interactive stories (also comparable to 'choose your own adventure' books, except Nintendo's text adventure series may have one canonical end other than game overs (which not all text adventures have).
The series began with Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Koukeisha for Famicom Disk System, followed by a successor which was a prequel, called Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo. It has also received Super Famicom, Nintendo Power (Japanese) and Satellaview entries.
Overseas, the West would officially see a localisation of the Nintendo Switch remakes (Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind) hence the series now has more exposure outside of Japan (in addition to the Shin Onigashima series, Hajimari no Mori series and Yuyuki's acknowledgements in the Super Smash Bros. series).
In July 2024, Nintendo has announced Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club will launch the following month worldwide, the official third installment in the Famicom Detective Club series.
- Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Koukeisha (1988, Famicom Disk System)
- Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (1989, Famicom Disk System)
- BS Tantei Club: Yuki ni Kieta Kako
- Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (Super Famicom)
- Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind
- Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club
