Tin Star is a rail shooter game released for the SNES exclusively in North America in 1994. The game was developed by Software Creations as part of a deal with Nintendo of America.
Story
In the old west, a robot named Tin Star has become the sherrif of East Driftwood. With the help of his partner, Mo Crash, it is Tin Star's job to drive out the various members of the Black Oil Gang.
Gameplay
The game consists of seven stages, each being a day of the week starting with Monday. Each stage consists of multiple segments, culminating in a showdown between Tin Star and a boss. The game plays similarly to an arcade shooting game, in which the player must move a reticle across the screen to shoot targets and enemies. At various points, a canteen will fly through the air briefly; if the player shoots every canteen in a stage, they will be able to play a bonus stage to earn extra points. When facing a boss, the player must shoot at an icon on the top left of the screen and then shoot their opponent as fast as possible before the boss can shoot.
The game has three endings, depending on the player's total score by the end of the game.
Reception
Game designers John and Ste Pickford have estimated that the game sold around 50,000 copies.[1]
