Metroid: Samus Returns is a 2.5D Nintendo 3DS title in the Metroid series, and a remake Metroid II: Return of Samus, originally released for Game Boy in 1991. The game was released in September 2017.
Released alongside the game are a pair of Metroid amiibo, depicting Samus Aran and a Metroid. A special edition version of the game was also released in North America and Japan that includes a soundtrack CD featuring songs from across the series.[5][6] In Europe, the game's "Legacy Edition" comes with the CD as well as an artbook, a 3D Morph Ball keyring, a gold "S" badge, a download code for the Virtual Console release of the original Metroid II: Return of Samus, and a SteelBook case designed after the original Metroid II Game Pak.[7] Finally, the game also launched alongside a special edition New Nintendo 3DS XL system.
