Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is a 2D platforming game for the Game Boy, developed by Nintendo R&D1 and released in 1994. As a follow-up to Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, the game stars rival character Wario rather than Mario, and would be the first entry in the Wario Land series.

Story
After being defeated by Mario in the previous game, Wario wants to get his own castle. He remembers hearing about a group of pirates on Kitchen Island that have stolen a gold statue of Princess Toadstool, and decides to steal the statue as well as the pirates' treasure to afford his own castle.
Gameplay
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 features a similar gameplay structure to 2D Super Mario titles. Wario can attack both by jumping on enemies, or by running into them with his Body Slam move, which can also be used to hit blocks. After attacking an emenmy, Wario is able to pick them up and throw them. Wario can earn extra lives by obtaining 100 Heart Points; running into enemies gives the player one point, while collecting hearts adds ten. Wario can also obtain power-ups by collecting one of three Power Up Jars. As Bull Wario, Wario's Body Slam can break blocks in one attack, and the player can ground pound and stick to ceilings. As Jet Wario, the player can glide through the air, and Wario will move faster and jump higher. Dragon Wario has the ability to shoot a stream of fire that defeats enemies and breaks blocks.
The game places an emphasis on collecting coins. Wario can pull out a 10 Gold Coin by pressing up and B, which can be used to activate both checkpoints and the doors at the end of each level. After clearing a stage, the player is given the option to play one of two bonus games. In the coin game, the player must choose between one of two buckets, which will drop one of two items: a coin bag that will double the amount of coins the player collected in a stage, or a weight that will half the amount. The heart game involves throwing bombs at enemies across a river; the player can choose one of three courses that cost increasing amounts of coins depending on difficulty, and will be awarded Heart Points or an extra life depending on score.
