Kirby Super Star (named Kirby's Fun Pack in the PAL region) is a game in the Kirby series, released for the SNES.

Blurb

"Power up for EIGHT action-packed battles and adventures!

Dream Land is under siege again! Our hero, Kirby, returns to instigate a rescue. King Dedede is snatching up Dream Land's food supply, but he's not the only one! Dyna Blade, Meta Knight and a slew of other evil baddies are on the loose and wreaking havoc throughout the land.

Use any of Kirby's amazing powers to create a 'helper' to assist you in battle. Or have a friend join you for some two-player action by taking control of Kirby's helper. Help Kirby work through EIGHT challenging games filled with action and adventure. Enter the fray in Spring Breeze, enter a foot race against King Dedede in Gourmet Race and tackle a winged warrior in Dyna Blade. Hone your reaction skills in Megaton Punch and Samurai Kirby, then battle your way through the Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of Meta Knight and Milky Way Wishes. Each game is different AND some extra-special surprises are in store for you!"

Gameplay

Kirby Super Star retains much of the gameplay of previous platform Kirby games, most notably the Copy Ability system introduced in Kirby's Adventure. Players can now create a "helper" by discarding their power, which will assist them.

The game is notable for advertising as having several games in one package, each with their own storylines. Kirby Super Star features nine games total:

  • Spring Breeze - A remake of Kirby's Dream Land with the new gameplay of this game.
  • Dyna Blade - Kirby must travel through a set of five stages to defeat Dyna Blade.
  • The Great Cave Offensive - Kirby must explore a large cave, collecting treasures and trying to find a way out.
  • Revenge of Meta Knight - A time-based mode in which Meta Knight is attempting to attack Dream Land; Kirby must destroy his ship and stop him.
  • Milky Way Wishes - Kirby must stop the moon and sun from fighting by traveling through the galaxy to find NOVA; Kirby cannot use standard Copy Abilities, and instead must find "Deluxe Copy Abilities" in each stage.
  • The Arena - A boss rush.
  • Sub-games - A pair of minigames: Samurai Kirby (the player must press the button fastest to win) and Megaton Punch (the player must time their button presses to punch harder)
