Pikmin Fanon is an independent wiki and NIWA member with content based around the Pikmin franchise. Unlike other NIWA wikis, Pikmin Fanon to date is the only member wiki based on hosting fan content rather than covering the official source material, and considered to be the sister site to Pikipedia.
History
On November 1st, 2008, Pikmin Fanon, formerly called Pikcanon-NOT was founded on Wikia by Rocky0718.
On September 14th, 2010, Pikcanon-NOT separated from Wikia due to a forced layout change. Both Pikmin Wiki and Pikcanon-NOT moved their content to independent servers hosted by Super Mario Wiki owner, Porplemontage. The wikis would then join NIWA simultaneously as the seventh and eighth members on October 8th, 2010. During that time, the wiki's name officially changed from Pikcanon-NOT to Pikmin Fanon.
In 2020, Porplemontage announced Pikmin Fanon to be closed on September 1st, so that he can focus on the other Wikis including Pikipedia, Super Mario Wiki, and SmashWiki; however, on August 31st, the head of WikiBound (Tacopill) has announced that Porplemontage has handed the wiki over to him, with the wiki now being hosted by Grifkuba.
