NIWA	Membership since November 12, 2010 Representative focusing on Donkey Kong

The Donkey Kong Wiki, often abbreviated "DKWiki" or simply "DKW" was a member wiki of NIWA. The wiki focused on Donkey Kong games, with relevant Super Mario and Super Smash Bros. information.

The wiki was closed circa 2018-2019 to merge with Super Mario Wiki. Attempting to access the site now results in a redirection to Super Mario Wiki.

History

Donkey Kong Wiki started as a Wikia wiki, originally founded by Wiki443556 on May 25, 2008. During this period, Donkey Kong Wiki was a "sister" wiki to Mario Party Wiki. Over time, Donkey Kong Wiki dropped in activity. At one point, HavocReaper48 joined and sparked a surge in activity, eventually becoming the site leader.

In October 2010, Donkey Kong Wiki moved away from Wikia following controversy regarding the platform's mandatory change to its new "Oasis" format. The wiki was moved to independent hosting with help from Porplemontage, the owner and founder of Super Mario Wiki. Donkey Kong Wiki became the thirteenth official NIWA member on November 12, 2010.

The wiki was founded two days after the Mario Party Wikia was founded. The two were former sister sites until the DKWikia's move. Initially, contributors from both sites helped, but after a short period of time, the Donkey Kong Wiki would see a drop in activity. There were low community efforts, and the Wikia version founder himself soon stopped contributing. Thus desperateness led whatever users were left to take article content and images from Super Mario Wiki in order to make up for what wasn't on the wiki already. However, even after, the wiki was still short of many, many articles and the remaining users abandoned the wiki, save for some random contributors.
