The Nintendo GameCube (Japanese: ニンテンドーゲームキューブ), officially abbreviated GCN or NGC is Nintendo's sixth-generation home console. The console was released on September 14, 2001 in Japan, November 18, 2001 in North America, May 3, 2002 in Europe, and May 17, 2002 in Australia. It is a powerful system, with a compact design, four controller ports, a controller with an ergonomic design, small but large-capacity discs, a large game library, connectivity with the Game Boy Advance and a form of online play. The console's surface has three buttons on top: Open, Reset, and Power. In 2006, it was succeeded by Wii, which also features ports for most GameCube hardware as well as compatibility for its software. The system's lifespan ended in 2007. April 2, 2025 - The Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation was broadcast, showcasing the system's features, upcoming games, and more. March 27, 2025 - A Nintendo Direct was broadcast, focusing on upcoming Nintendo Switch titles. January 16, 2025 - The Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the Nintendo Switch, was revealed with a teaser trailer announcing a release in 2025. A dedicated Nintendo Direct was announced for April 2, as well as "Nintendo Switch 2 Experience" hands-on events for users with a Nintendo Account worldwide. October 30, 2024 - Nintendo Music, a music-streaming application available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers allowing users to listen to soundtracks from various Nintendo titles, has been released for mobile devices. October 29, 2024 - Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was announced to be released for Nintendo Switch in March 2025. October 9, 2024 - Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, an interactive alarm clock, was announced. The device is currently available to purchase online exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers and at Nintendo's official stores, with a wider retail release to start in January 2025.

Pokémon Gold Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスター金 Pocket Monsters Kin, literally Pocket Monsters Gold) and Pokémon Silver Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスター銀 Pocket Monsters Gin, literally Pocket Monsters Silver) were the fifth and sixth Pokémon games released, beginning the second generation of the Pokémon series.

Developed as a sequel to Pokémon Red and Green, Gold and Silver expanded the Pokémon world westward into the region of Johto, where 100 Pokémon not appearing in the earlier games could be found.
