Story
Dr. Wily has claimed to have reformed, and is working together with Dr. Light on a new peacekeeping robot. In order to finish the robot, they need energy crystals. The crystals can be found on a group of mining worlds, but the robots there have started to attack. Mega Man must defeat these robots and obtain the energy crystals needed to finish the robot.
Gameplay
Mega Man 3 keeps the structure of the previous games, in which Mega Man must defeat eight Robot Masters to progress. Defeating a Robot Master gives the player the ability to use their weapon in other stages. Mega Man has a new move in this game in the form of the slide, which allows Mega Man to slide quickly across the ground and under low ceilings and obstacles. The player also has access to Rush, Mega Man's robot dog who has three abilities. By default the player can use Rush Coil, which allows Mega Man to jump to higher ledges, and by defeating particular Robot Masters can unlock Rush Marine, which allows Mega Man to move freely underwater; and Rush Jet, which allows Mega Man to move freely through the air. In certain stages, the player will encounter another robot known as "Break Man", who will battle with similar capabilities to Mega Man.
