A Nintendo DS Option Pak resembles a Game Boy Advance Game Pak but is designed exclusively for the bottom section of an original Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite system.

If the player attempts to load it as a game on a Nintendo DS, they will not be able to select it and will instead receive a message that there is an Option Pak inserted. This message can sometimes also appear if the cartridge is read incorrectly. If the player attempts to play it as a game on a Game Boy Advance, the console will act as if there is no cartridge inserted.
