Star Fox Guard is a tower defense-style spin-off in the Star Fox series, developed for Wii U in collaboration between PlatinumGames and Nintendo alongside Star Fox Zero. Originally unveiled at E3 2014 as a tech demo titled "Project Guard", physical copies of the game were included in a first edition bundle alongside Star Fox Zero, and is only available individually by downloading it on the Nintendo eShop (which gives a discount toward purchasing Star Fox Zero).

Quick! Tap the corresponding camera on the Wii U™ GamePad controller to see the entrances and shoot those walking and rolling robots down! But just when you think it's all smooth sailing, look out for robots that carry shields, trigger smoke bombs, or even steal your cameras. Gameplay

Players must defend the core of their station from attacking robots by taking control of cameras using the Wii U GamePad and shooting them away. The Wii U GamePad displays a map of the facility, while the TV screen displays twelve live security feeds, the currently active feed being displayed in the center. When a robot approaches, the player must tap the appropriate camera on the Wii U GamePad to switch to that feed in order to blast the oncoming enemy. By scanning a Fox or Falco amiibo before a mission the player can, once during that mission, call in Star Fox team for an airstrike that eliminates all enemies on the screen[1].

When playing online, the player will be pitted against another player to either invade or defend a base. While the defending player plays as normal, the invading player uses the Wii U GamePad to set up where and how the robots will attack.
