Gameplay

By tapping an amiibo on the Wii U GamePad's NFC sensor, the player can unlock timed demos of several stages and moments from NES and SNES games. These include:

Tapping the amiibo assigns a random game to that amiibo which can be accessed by scanning it again at any point; at the bottom of the screen is a list of games that are filled in when unlocked, which show the corresponding amiibo and owner when touched on the touchscreen. Players can play each scene for up to three minutes, and can switch between each of the different scenes by tapping the amiibo corresponding to the game. The player is also able to configure amiibo settings and go to the official amiibo website from the application, and can go to the Nintendo eShop page for each of the games while playing the respective demo to purchase the full game.
