The Legendary Starfy series, known in Japan as the Densetsu no Stafy series is a series of games starring the "legendary" Starfy, a starfish like creature with traits of a celestial star and the prince of a floating kingdom high in the sky, above the ocean called Pufftop (Tenkai in Japan). Joining Starfy on his adventures are Starfy's best friend Moe the clam and his younger sister Starly (in Densetsu no Starfy 3 and onwards).
The games are officially known as "Marine Action" games. A lot of the time the gameplay has Starfy or his younger sister Starly swimming across the water in a way that feels like gliding across the screen. A lot of the time there are platformer elements that take place out of water, however.
All games in the series have a plot element that causes Starfy to fall from Pufftop into the ocean to fight evil. On his trip Starfy, Starly and Moe have to help out other characters and will encounter enemies and bosses.
