Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Ken) is the first game in the Fire Emblem series. It was released for the Famicom, only in Japan. The game has a remake called Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, which was also released outside of Japan.
In 2020, a digital official localisation for the game was announced for Nintendo Switch for a limited time. Other than translating the game from Japanese to English, it offers new features such as bookmarks, rewinding to the previous turn and fast forwarding.[1] There is also a 30th Anniversary edition with merchandise including "a replica NES Game Pak, art piece & game box, Nintendo Power collectible and Legacy of Archanea deluxe art book".[2]
Gameplay
As Marth, the player must battle throughout the Altea nation to challenge Medeus and the Dohlr Empire. Battles take place in turns, and the game includes permanent death; meaning if one of Marth's allies dies they can no longer be used.
