The Kirby (星のカービィ, Hoshi no Kābī) (Kirby of the Stars) is one of the few long running game series which debuted on the Game Boy and Nintendo Entertainment System. Kirby games are generally developed by HAL Laboratory, but are always published by Nintendo exclusively for their home console and portable gaming systems. The hero and titular character, Kirby is consistently a round pink being. No specific explanation has been given for what Kirby actually is meant to be. His trademark power is the ability to inhale and copy the element, weapon, fighting style, or other attribute of his foes. The Kirby franchise also includes an animated 100 episode series, Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, and a recent retelling of some game plots in manga form. Several of the games are remakes of previous titles with enhancements such as improved graphics, bonus abilities, or other additional content.
