Your battle. Your future. Your fate.

Two kingdoms at war – the peace-loving Hoshido and the glory-seeking Nohr – It’s up to the player to decide which side to take. As the prince/princess of Hoshido, who was raised by Nohr royal family, you will be torn between two families you love. Whichever path you take, you will face different types of challenges.

Features:

  • For the first time in the series, the player plays as the main character and commands his or her own army. The player character is customizable avatar, like in the Fire Emblem Awakening game. Select male or female with many options.
  • During the game, the player must make the choice between Hoshido and Nohr. Each path will offer a completely different storyline with a different set of characters to recruit as allies.
  • The Hoshido path is a more traditional path as you work together with your allies to fend off Nohrian invaders.
  • The Nohr path will force you to revolutionize an unruly kingdom from the inside – this path offers a slightly more complex story and will be more challenging.

Story

The kingdoms of Hoshido and Nohr fall into a war with each other. The avatar character is a blood member of the Hoshido royal family, but was kidnapped and raised as a member of the Nohr royal family. As the game progresses, the player must make decisions leading up to which side they will finally align with. Depending on their version of the game, if the player chooses to side with Hoshido, they must protect the peaceful lifestyle of the Hoshido kingdom while fighting off the Nohr, while if the player choose to side with Nohr, they must uproot the evil from within their own kingdom.

Gameplay

The gameplay is mostly similar to the previous game, Fire Emblem Awakening. Fitting with the more Japanese aesthetic of the game, the traditional weapon triangle has been replaced with Japanese equivalents (katana, naginata, and kanabō rather than sword, spear, and axe), in addition to the bow being added into it. The Pair Up mechanic also returns from Awakening, though it has been changed.

Similar to Fire Emblem Gaiden, the weapon durability mechanic has been removed for this installment. The Classic and Casual gameplay settings also return from Fire Emblem Awakening, though a new gameplay mode called "Phoenix Mode" is introduced, in which units are revived on the player's next turn after they are defeated

Scanning the Fire Emblem character amiibo allows the player to fight and recruit those characters as optional units.
