The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest is an altered, more difficult version of the original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Originally referred to as Ura Zelda and developed for the Nintendo 64DD as an expansion for Ocarina of Time, the game continued development despite the discontinuation of the 64DD and was ultimately released for the Nintendo GameCube as a single disc including both the original game and this game. The disc also features trailers for upcoming Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance games (the selection depending on region), as well as a highlight reel.
In North America the compilation game was released as a bonus for pre-ordering The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, while in other regions it was packaged with the game in a "Limited Edition" version. Later on in North America, this title and The Wind Waker would be included in a single two-disc package as part of a hardware bundle. In addition, a "Master Quest" mode would be featured as a part of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Gameplay
From the main menu of the disc, players have the choice of playing either version of the game, after which the player is immediately taken to the title screen of that game. By pressing Z, the player can access the Movies menu, which allows them to view previews of upcoming and recently released Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance titles, as well as a highlight reel of various games.
While the standard Ocarina of Time is identical to its original release, the controls of both games have been adapted to work with the Nintendo GameCube controller. Ocarina of Time Master Quest retains the basic gameplay of the original game, though similar to the Second Quest from the original The Legend of Zelda, Master Quest reworks the game's dungeons to have more difficult layouts, and places more difficult-to-beat enemies at earlier points in the game.
