Shiver Entertainment, Inc. is a game development studio based in Miami, Florida. Originally founded in late 2012, the studio primarily specializes in co-development and porting titles across multiple platforms. The name "Shiver" is derived from the word referring to a group of sharks.[1]
History
Shiver Entertainment was originally founded in December, 2012 by John Schappert and Jason Andersen, with funding from Nexon. At its inception, the company was focused on developing free-to-play titles for PC and mobile devices.[1]
On December 21, 2021, Embracer Group announced that it had acquired Shiver Entertainment as a subsidiary of Saber Interactive.[2]
On March 14, 2024, as part of Embracer Group's restructuring initiative, Saber Interactive and several of its subsidiaries would be sold to Beacon Interactive, with the remaining companies, among them Shiver, being retained directly under Embracer Group.[3] Later, on May 21, 2024, Nintendo announced that it had entered into a deal with Embracer Group to acquire Shiver Entertainment as a wholly-owned subsidiary.[4]
