NintendoWiki:Article structure

An article structure is useful in determining what categories, templates and sections should be seen on every page of a specific content type. This is to help the reader of said pages, as they will be able to learn what to expect on certain pages, in which improves their ability to read a page at first glance, and to find information on a page, should they ever return to it later on.

These are the current Article structure standards

Console

• [Main]
  • (First section)
    • {{console-infobox}}
  • Development, the development history of the console
  • Features, distinguishing features about the console
  • System specs, the hardware specifications for the system
  • Accessories, extras and addons that were made for the console
  • Reception, how the console was received by critics and the general public, as well as sales information.

1st and 2nd-party games

• [Main]
  • (First section)
    • {{exitstub}}, used only if there's a NIWA-member wiki that provides such info for the particular video game.
    • {{game infobox}}
  • Blurb, a saying that can be usually found in the back of the box art, grabbing the attention of the reader. These things disappear in later titles.
  • Story, self-explanatory; can be excluded if a video game title doesn't have a storyline. For example, Yoshi's Cookie, and 'Yoshi'.
  • Gameplay, self-explanatory.
  • Technical Details
    • See Technical details for more information.
  • Other Releases
    • See Release management for more information.

  • Category:Games developed by {game developer}.

Notes

• If the article is completely done, and there's an {{exitstub}} in the page - lock it from further editing.
• If there is no {{exitstub}} in the page that links to the affiliated NIWA Wiki, feel free to add more info. For example, Donkey Kong Country has a exitstub that links to Donkey Kong Wiki.

• If the article is completely done - lock it from further editing.
• Color scheme for 3rd party games is Neutral color scheme.

• These apply to Board games, dominoes games, etc. that aren't video games.

Patents

  • {conjectural name of the patent}, because patent entries have a generic title, we have to make up a name that best describes what the patent is about.

    • A gallery of images of the scanned pages of the patent.
    • Summarized info of the patent, where is it used for, etc.

  • Category:Patents
  • Category:{name of the home/portable console}, used if the article focuses on a certain group.

Notes

• The section can be reused repeatedly to cover different patent entries.

People

    • Name of the person
    • ("{japanese text}, born {date of birth}")
    •  ??????
  • History, the info must be related to anything Nintendo; directly, or indirectly.
  • Personal life, the info varies wildly!
  • Credits

Notes

• If the person retired, or left from Nintendo, add Category:Retired people.
• If the people died, regardless if he or she worked in Nintendo, or not, add Category:Deceased people. For example, Gunpei Yokoi.
