SmashWiki is an NIWA member wiki focusing on Super Smash Bros., a series of fighting games notable for featuring characters, locations, and items from Nintendo's various franchises. In addition to extensively covering the games, their contents, and game mechanics, the wiki also covers community aspects such as tournaments, players, and rankings, as well as detailed coverage on the origins of the characters, locations, and other contents.
History
Two wikis for the Super Smash Bros. series originally existed. The first of these was SmashWiki, founded by the user Gideon in July 2006, officially launched in March 2007, and hosted by SmashBoards (at the time known as the Smash World Forums). The second was Super Smash Bros. Wiki, a Wikia wiki founded by Alexir55 in April 2007. On February 29, 2008, the SmashBoards wiki merged into the Wikia wiki, which was renamed to SmashWiki.
In September 2010, a significant number of users, dissatisfied with Wikia's policies, would leave the wiki to found their own independently hosted wiki, taking the SmashWiki name. SmashWiki officially joined NIWA in October 2010 as its eleventh member. The Wikia wiki would remain in operation under the new name SmashWikia, which changed again to Smashpedia in September 2013.

- September 28, 2010: SmashWiki splits from Wikia and becomes independently hosted by Porplemontage
- October 22, 2010: Toomai gets promoted to bureaucrat status
- October 29, 2010: SmashWiki joins NIWA
- January 5, 2013: Pikamander2 gets demoted from administrator status on their request
- September 29, 2015: Nyargleblargle gets promoted to administrator status
- November 21, 2015: Serpent King gets promoted to administrator status
- March 25, 2016: Disaster Flare gets promoted to administrator status
- August 13, 2017: Serpent King gets promoted to bureaucrat status
- December 2, 2017: Clarinet Hawk, Emmett, PenguinOfDeath, and Semicolon are demoted due to inactivity
