It was announced in Japanese magazines in 1999, but it was never released or mentioned again for unknown reasons. Although it was unreleased, a Super Famicom game titled Picross NP Vol. 1 was released in Japan later that year which included 12 Pokémon-themed puzzles.
In 2015, a game also known as Pokémon Picross was released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, also developed by Jupiter and published by Nintendo.
