The Game & Watch consoles (ゲーム&ウオッチ, Gēmu & Uotchi, Game & Watch), are a series of handheld electronic games designed by Gunpei Yokoi and developed by Nintendo ever since 1980 with the first release being, Ball. As the name would imply, all units featured a built-in clock as well.
While the original production run of the devices lasted until 1991, some re-release have occured over the years, such as a re-issue of Ball done via Club Nintendo or via the Nintendo Mini Classics series, rerelease of various LCD games including but not limited to some Game & Watch.
Some Game & Watch units proved to be a monumental success and the line of console sold a total of 43.4 million units globally.
Every original Game & Watch game was released on an individual piece of hardware, containing only that game; as opposed to being a separate piece of hardware for later consoles.
With the introduction of the Game & Watch Gallery sub-series and later Super Smash Bros. Melee giving the series a proper mascot in the form of Mr. Game & Watch, the console line became a part of a series dubbed the "Game & Watch series" and continued to receive entries via compilations and digital re-release of some games on DSiWare, as well as two new hardwares release with Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. and Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

- Many of the games in the Game & Watch series were re-released in the Game & Watch Gallery games, which saw releases on consoles from Game Boy to Game Boy Advance.
