The Yoshi series is a series of games spun off of the Super Mario franchise, after Yoshi's introduction in Super Mario World. While the series began in 1991 with the puzzle game Yoshi, the platforming games did not come about until Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which introduced the plotline of Kamek attempting to kidnap the baby Mario Bros. to stop them from becoming trouble for Bowser in the future.
