*The Backward Long Jump is fixed.

*Adds Rumble Pak support (hence the name), in addition to incorporating features and bug fixes from the previous international releases of the game.

*Mario will now face the screen after grabbing a tree.

*Mario's taunt to Bowser is changed to "Buh-bye!" ("So long, eh Bowser!" is the former international version taunt, "Here we go!" is the Japanese version taunt. Buh-bye! was used again for Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. Sleep Mode, and then the Nintendo Switch release).

<!--*Jump sound effect changes https://tcrf.net/Super_Mario_64_(Nintendo_64)/Regional_and_Version_Differences#Shindou_Pak_Taiou_Version ; NWiki editor finds TCRF wording unclear-->

*A new feature on the title screen was added after pressing Z, such that images fill the background (i.e. in repeated tiles).

*When grabbing a pole, horizontal speed can affect Mario's angle (a glitch?).

*Angle Conversion Crashes for Bob-omb and Bully#Angle Conversion Crash do not occur.

*At least three text changes were made to the original Japanese scripts; such as (in Japanese) to insist better that A or B can be used for interacting with things.

*All iQue Players came bundled with a timed demo for the game.

*There is no rumble support anymore (as the IQP doesn't have that functionality).

*If VI_CONTROL_REG IQP bit 3 is on, video is corrupted (Ukikipedia believes this is to counter piracy).

*EEPROM is no longer used by the IQP (flash memory from the iQue is used instead), so the game is patched to address that.

*iQue own part of the copyright to the Shindō Pak Taiō Version, so there is a new copyright notice for iQue (©2003 iQue). Furthermore, the original Nintendo notice extends further to 2003; "©1996-1997 Nintendo" is now "©1996, 2003 Nintendo".

My Nintendo website

Download and play Super Mario 64 on your Wii U console. Originally released on the Nintendo 64 system, this was the first Super Mario game with a 3D world. Master Mario's actions in 3D and collect the Power Stars!

Story

The game begins with a letter from Princess Peach inviting Mario to come to her castle for some cake. He arrives to find that Bowser has taken over the castle and imprisoned the princess. In order to regain control of the castle and rescue Peach, Mario must collect the Power Stars that Bowser has hidden throughout the castle.

Gameplay

Super Mario 64 is a 3D platformer in which players play as Mario, with the ability to roam freely in all directions within the area's confines. Princess Peach's Castle acts as the main hub world, from which levels can be accessed. The game features 15 main levels in which the goal is to collect stars in order to open new rooms in the castle. Stars are obtained through various means, usually using Mario's abilities, such as punching, jumping, and running, to fulfill the requirements for gaining stars in each level. Requirements include fighting bosses, winning races, or simply reaching the location of the star. In some levels, Mario must use power-ups in the process of obtaining stars. In addition to the main 15 levels, there are some smaller, hidden levels that contain fewer stars, and a few stars are hidden around the castle.
